This is the recommended integration pattern for the returning buyer flow where the vaulted payment method is previewed, allowing the buyer to click and edit the payment method as needed.
Need a Vault ID or Customer ID to try this flow? Run the
PayPal Save Payment (vault without purchase)
example first — after approving, it returns a customerId and
a paymentTokenId (vault ID).
Only one is needed: enter either the vault ID or the
target customer ID below (not both).
